United States. The US dollar is strengthening against the Japanese yen today while posting moderate losses against the euro and the British pound.
The GBP/EUR exchange rate suffered a sharp drop last week, sliding to 1.1280 — its lowest level in two and a half years — after reports suggested the UK government might step back from its plan to raise income tax in the upcoming budget. By Monday, the pound managed to regain part of its losses, recovering to around 1.1345.
The US dollar has recently climbed to 154.04 against the Japanese yen (USD/JPY), briefly breaking above the 155.00 mark for the first time since January.
The euro–dollar pair (EUR/USD) stabilized around 1.16 in early November, after finding solid support below the 1.15 level earlier in the month.
