Connecting Blockchain Solutions With Real Business Problems
On July 13, Superteam Vietnam officially launched the competition with a total prize pool of up to 5,000 USDC. The programme aims to identify practical applications of blockchain technology for Web2 businesses in Vietnam.
According to Superteam Vietnam, many previous blockchain projects began with the technology and only later searched for suitable market applications. The next generation of Web3 projects is expected to begin with real problems faced by businesses and then use blockchain as a potential solution.
Participants are not required to build a complete cryptocurrency project. Instead, they are asked one central question:
“Is there any part of your existing business that would work better if it were brought on-chain?”
Participants do not need smart contract programming skills or extensive knowledge of Solana. The main requirement is a clear understanding of the business problem and an explanation of why blockchain could be an appropriate solution.
Applicants who understand an industry challenge but are unsure how to implement an on-chain solution are still encouraged to submit their ideas. Superteam may help promising teams refine their concepts and develop a practical implementation plan.
Potential Blockchain Use Cases
Superteam provided several examples of problems that blockchain could address in traditional markets:
-
A Vietnamese hardware startup has customers worldwide but cannot launch a Kickstarter campaign because Vietnam is not included among the supported countries.
-
Small export companies may lose 3–5% of an invoice’s value to correspondent banking fees and foreign exchange spreads while waiting several days to receive payment.
-
A freelancer working with an international client may receive only around $920 from a $1,000 payment after platform fees, currency conversion costs and intermediary bank charges.
Applications will be accepted from July 13 until August 2, 2026.
Competition Requirements
The competition is open only to Vietnamese citizens or people currently residing in Vietnam. Winning individuals or teams must verify their identity or place of residence before receiving a prize.
Participants must select an operating business, a Web2 product or an industry in which they have relevant experience and propose how its model could be improved using the Solana blockchain.
Each submission must include a two-page pitch deck and an MVP or prototype. The prototype may be a mockup, wireframe or simulation of the proposed operational process.
The pitch should address four key questions:
-
What is the existing business, and what is its real pain point?
-
Why is blockchain an appropriate solution?
-
How would the proposed system work in practice?
-
What would be the next step if additional resources and team members were available?
New ideas without completed products will be accepted, although projects with prototypes or early test products may receive stronger consideration. Submissions can be presented in either Vietnamese or English.
Further information about the competition rules and submission process is available through Superteam Vietnam’s official announcement.
Prizes and Additional Support
The total prize pool is 5,000 USDC:
-
First place: 2,500 USDC
-
Second place: 1,000 USDC
-
Third, fourth and fifth places: 500 USDC each
In addition to the prizes, selected individuals and teams may work directly with the Country Lead of Superteam Vietnam to evaluate their ideas, refine their proposed solutions and develop an appropriate growth roadmap.
Promising projects may also be introduced to grant programmes, hackathons and founder programmes within the Solana ecosystem. Superteam Vietnam may provide further support by connecting teams with relevant partners after the competition ends.
Conclusion: The initiative shifts attention from technology-first blockchain projects toward solutions built around genuine business problems. Its impact will depend on whether the selected ideas can demonstrate practical benefits beyond conventional Web2 infrastructure.
