As part of the overhaul, support for the zkEVM solution will be discontinued in 2026. Going forward, Polygon will focus exclusively on two core products: the Polygon PoS blockchain and Agglayer. Polygon PoS will target stablecoin payments and real-world asset tokenization, while Agglayer will serve as an interoperability platform connecting diverse networks.
BIG update - As the largest holder of POL and someone who dedicated his life to development and success of @0xPolygon from the very beginning, I have decided to take full control of Polygon Foundation and will be its CEO going forward. Polygon Foundation owns and oversees…

The first roadmap upgrade, dubbed Gigagas, is already live in testnet, enabling throughput of over 1,000 transactions per second (TPS) starting early July. The team plans to achieve sub-second finality and scale to over 5,000 TPS by autumn, with a long-term goal of surpassing 100,000 TPS.
Nailwal also revealed that the revamped Agglayer is nearly ready for mainnet launch, with rollout scheduled for the week of June 30. The only remaining feature—fast interchain messaging—is set to be delivered by the end of Q3. The Agglayer Breakout program will enable new projects to launch within the Polygon ecosystem and distribute airdrops to POL stakers.
Polygon will continue zero-knowledge research in a neutral format, launching a separate track called Polygon ZisK under the leadership of Jordi Baylina.
To ease the transition from MATIC to POL, a series of educational initiatives will be introduced. Polygon’s branding will once again take center stage in project communications, while Agglayer will be positioned as a core infrastructure component, rather than the ecosystem’s face.
“With a healthy balance sheet and several hundred million in cash reserves, we are in a strong position to build long-term infrastructure without distractions or fundraising pressure,” Nailwal emphasized.
Previously, co-founder Mihail Belich announced his resignation from the Polygon project.
