Management continues its workforce restructuring: this week the company reported new personnel changes after the U.S. government acquired a 10.0% stake in the issuer. President Donald Trump’s economic adviser Robin Colwell was appointed Head of Government Relations, and James Chu became Vice President of Intel Government Technologies, the division overseeing business with the U.S. government.
Another key development was news that talks have begun over a potential acquisition of AI chip startup SambaNova Systems, valued at $1.6 billion. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed yet, as SambaNova Systems has preliminary agreements with other potential investors as well.
In its fourth-quarter report, due on January 22, Intel Corp. may post earnings per share (EPS) of $0.079 versus $0.230 in the previous quarter and $0.130 a year earlier, while revenue is expected at $13.39 billion compared with $13.70 billion and $14.26 billion, respectively.
Despite returning to profitability and receiving additional funding, management is not planning to resume dividend payments, which were suspended in September 2024.
