According to the announcement, the team is shifting from a largely reactive grants process toward a more proactive, strategy-driven approach that aligns with the priorities of other EF teams. The foundation plans to publish an updated ESP roadmap in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The program’s mission remains the same and focuses on:

  • channeling resources to critical efforts that improve Ethereum’s resilience and usability
  • supporting public goods and open-source work that benefits the ecosystem
  • prioritizing developer tooling, core and shared infrastructure, research, and community resources

While new submissions are on hold, the ESP team will continue to assist current grantees, including with mentorship and help sourcing data and information.

In 2024, the program allocated roughly $3 million across 105 projects and initiatives. Recent beneficiaries include Commit-Boost, BundleBear, Web3Bridge, ZK Playbook, and the Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress.
