Users will be able to store and transfer the stablecoin alongside Bitcoin in a single wallet, as well as send and receive funds offline.

“Bitcoin deserves a stablecoin that is truly native, lightweight, private, and scalable,” noted Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino.

Currently, USDT is available on 20 networks, including Ethereum, TRON, Solana, Polygon, and Avalanche.

What is RGB?

The RGB mainnet launched this year. The project enables the creation and management of assets on the Bitcoin and Lightning Network.

After the launch, the RGB Association was formed, which includes Bitfinex, Fulgur Ventures, Plan B Network, Boosty Labs, Kaleidoswap, ThunderStack, Bitcoin Tribe, and LNFI. The organization is intended to coordinate, promote, and develop the project.

Beginning September 1, Tether will cease USDT redemptions across five networks — Algorand, Bitcoin Cash SLP, EOS, Kusama, and Omni Layer — and freeze the remaining tokens.

According to the company’s statement, the decision was made following an analysis of protocol usage data, market demand, and feedback from infrastructure partners.
