OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger confirmed on X that any discussion of cryptocurrencies is grounds for removal from the server. The decision followed an incident in which a user casually mentioned Bitcoin and was immediately banned. Steinberger referred to the community guidelines, explaining:
“We have strict server rules that you agree to when you join. One of them is a complete ban on any mention of cryptocurrencies.”
The strict stance stems from an incident in January. During a project rebranding, scammers hijacked OpenClaw’s former social media accounts and began promoting a Solana token called $CLAWD. Within a few hours, the token’s market capitalization reached approximately $16 million.
After Steinberger publicly stated that he was not involved, the token collapsed by more than 90%. He later wrote:
“I will never launch a cryptocurrency. Any project that lists me as the owner of a crypto token is a scam.”
