Today, December 3, Ethereum is launching its long-awaited Fusaka upgrade. Activation is expected at around 11:00 p.m. CET.
The primary goal of the update is to push Ethereum into a new era of efficiency. The focus lies on significantly increasing transaction throughput both on the base layer (Layer 1) and across Layer-2 networks.
At the core of the upgrade is PeerDAS (EIP-7594). This mechanism improves how the network handles the “blobs” first introduced in the Dencun upgrade. After Fusaka, validators will be able to process these data packets much faster.
For L2 networks such as Base, throughput could jump from today’s ~1,500 transactions per second (TPS) to roughly 10,000 TPS. Lighter — the Ethereum Layer-2 competing with Hyperliquid — may theoretically reach speeds of up to 350,000 TPS. Some experts believe that, in the long term, Ethereum could scale toward one million TPS.
Fusaka also includes a higher gas limit and improvements to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), aimed at simplifying complex computations. The update continues the Layer-1 scaling path started by Pectra in mid-May: the aging architecture of the main chain is getting a structural overhaul thanks to the introduction of Zero-Knowledge proofs (SNARKs).
The upgrade is expected to act as a subtle but meaningful tailwind for the Ethereum price. Instead of introducing flashy new features, Fusaka strengthens the network’s technical foundations.
The market reaction is already visible: by Wednesday morning, ETH had gained more than 9% in the past 24 hours and was trading around 3,069 USD at the time of writing.
If you plan to trade Ethereum or L2 tokens following the Fusaka activation and need a reliable exchange in your region, FORECK.INFO offers an updated crypto exchange ranking. The list compares platforms that operate consistently across different countries, support local payment methods, offer transparent fees, high security standards, and fast withdrawals. This ranking makes it easier to choose an exchange best suited for buying and trading ETH in your area.
