The management has signed a partnership agreement with artificial intelligence developer OpenAI, allowing customers and Sam’s Club members to make purchases directly through ChatGPT using instant checkout functionality. The news was positively received by investors, with the stock gaining more than 5% intraday. This collaboration could help Walmart narrow the technological gap with its main competitor Amazon.com, which has long implemented a similar solution via its own chatbot, Rufus. Following the announcement, BTIG initiated coverage on Walmart shares with a “Buy” rating and raised the target price from $110 to $120.

Walmart’s third-quarter financial results are scheduled for release on November 20. Analysts expect revenue to rise to $177.32 billion from $169.60 billion a year earlier, while earnings per share (EPS) may reach $0.599 versus $0.530 previously.

The company’s final dividend payment for the year is set for January 5, with shareholders receiving $0.24 per share — equivalent to a yield of 0.88%, which is about half the sector’s average of 1.53%.
